Weekly pick-ups: Week 121!

I set a challenge for myself: I could only buy a new game when I finished one that has been setting in my backlog for a while. A couple of days ago I finished “South Park: The Fractured But Whole” (great game, check it out if you haven’t) so that meant that I could buy a new game! So guess what I did?

Lock’s Quest (Xbox One)

I don’t know a single thing about this game but the description on the back looked interesting and it was only €5 so why not?

Slain (PS4)

Yes, I know. I finished one game but I bought two of them; that wasn’t really the plan but I couldn’t pass this one up. It reminded me a lot of Castlevania Symphony Of The Night and that’s one of my favorite PS1 games so I decided to go for it. It’s tough but I like a good challenge!

Do you struggle with an enormous backlog of unfinished games? How do you fix that? Let me know in the comments!

Weekly pick-ups: Week 117!

The World Cup is nearing its conclusion and Belgium is still in it! I got the luck of the Belgian national team with a ‘5 games for €15’ deal and I added some games to my ever growing Xbox One collection!

Red Dead Redemption, Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare, Injustice Gods Among Us, The Adventures of TinTin; The secrets of the Unicorn and X-Men Origins Wolverine (PS3)

The games normally were around €14.98 each so getting them all for €15 is a pretty sweet deal. Both Red Dead Redemption games were missing in my collection and I want to finish them both before the second one hits the shelves. I already own Injustice digitally on the PS4 but I really wanted a physical copy of the game and a PS3 version will do. The TinTin game is a bit of nostalgia for me because I’ve been a TinTin fan since I was a little kid and lastly the X-Men game looks to be a fun action game.

Heihachi Tekken 7 Totaku figurine

I already got two figures of this collection (both from God Of War) and when I saw this Heihachi figurine I just had to have it. Fits in nicely with my next purchase.

The Crew 2 Deluxe Edition and Tekken 7 (Xbox One)

I liked The Crew; it wasn’t anything special but it was an enjoyable racing game. They added a bunch of stuff (mostly boats and planes) to the sequel so I’m curious to see how that pans out. Tekken 7 was on sale for €25 and my dad had a coupon for €5 so I got it for €20 which is a good deal.

What’s your favorite fighting game? Let me know in the comments!

Weekly pick-ups: Week 114!

I got a bunch of stuff this week; some games (it was bargain bin time again), blu rays and two TMNT figurines!

Donatello and Michelangelo TMNT figures

The 90’s TMNT cartoon is one of my favorite cartoons of all time so when I saw these figurines in that style I just had to have them. I already owned a Rocksteady figurine from the same range which is great; they now share a spot on my figurine shelf!

Spider-Man Homecoming and IT (blu ray)

Spider-Man Homecoming is the best live action Spider-Man movie because it just perfectly captures who Spider-Man is (Tom Holland is perfect for the role). IT was a great horror film that I, as a horror movie collector, just needed to have. I got both blu-rays for €20 which isn’t a bad deal!

Might No.9 (Xbox One)

The reviews for this games aren’t great but I really wanted to give it a go because I like the old Mega Man games. And it was only €3.99 so even if I don’t like it, I didn’t waste too much money.

Socom US Navy Seals (PS2)

I remember getting this game (and the headset) together with my OPM2 (official playstation magazine) subscription and I immediately fell in love with it. I know that there are a lot of tactical shooters that are better than Socom but it’s just a bit of nostalgia for me!

Command and Conquer Collection (PC)

17 Command and Conquer games for €1? Count me in!

Lego Marvel Avengers and Superbeat Xonic (PS Vita)

Lego games are always a ton of fun and getting this also helps my PS Vita collection. I didn’t know anything about Superbeat Xonic but I saw that it was a rhythm game so I just bought it. Lego Marvel Avengers was €5 and Superbeat only €3 so yeah; can’t really say no to that.

What’s your favorite PS Vita game? Let me know in the comments!

Weekly pick-ups: Week 113!

Another week with a bunch of new games so let’s get right to it!

Agony and Raiden V Directors Cut (PS4)

Agony was a game that I had on my radar for a long time; the setting look really cool and I’m always up for a horror game. Raiden V is a shoot em up game of the purest form. It’s nothing too special but it’s a ton of fun and you can find it for a very low price (I paid around €15 for mine, new)

Mark McMorris Infinite Air and Resident Evil Revelations (Xbox One)

As a collector I always check the budget bin when I can because you never know which little gems you’re going to find. I got those two games for €5 each which is an absolute steal. I’ve played the Infinite Air game a bit but I’m not a huge fan of realistic snowboard games so I don’t know how much I’m actually going to play it but for €5 I was willing to give it a go. I’ve already played Revelations and I thought it was a good game but I didn’t own it on the Xbox One so why not?

What’s the best thing you’ve ever gotten from a budget bin? Let me know in the comments!

Weekly pick-ups: Week 112!

Only two games this week and both have the number ‘2’ in their title so you know what time it is; sequel time!

State of Decay 2 (Xbox One)

The first State of Decay was a very solid zombie survival game but it had one glaring weakness; no multiplayer. They fixed that in the sequel and they added a bunch of new features to keep you busy. It’s also released for a budget price (€30) which sweetens the deal even more.

Steamworld Dig 2 (PS4)

I’ve never played the first Steamworld Dig game and I didn’t know much about this sequel but the trailer in combination with the budget price made me buy it. I’ve played it for about 2 hours now and it’s a really fun action/platform game with a bit of humor.

Weekly pick-ups: Week 108!

I went thrift shopping and found some nice PS2 and Xbox games (and a PS2 demo unit that I couldn’t buy 😦 ). I also got a couple of remakes for the PS4 and a guide for my favorite game of all time!

Stuntman (PS2)

I remember playing this game when I was a kid and the only thing that I thought back then was ‘Damn, this is difficult’. I look forward to playing it again to see if I got better at the game.

Titan Quest, Assassins Creed Rogue Remastered, A Way Out (PS4)

Titan Quest and A Way Out are games that I bought solely to play them in co-op with a friend. We’ve been playing a bit of ‘A Way Out’ and so far it’s fun. Assassins Creed Rogue is the only AC game that I’ve never played but people told me that it was a lot like Assassins Creed Black Flag and that’s my favorite AC game so I decided to give it a go!

GTA Vice City Guide

I’m a big fan of physical guide; I just love reading trough them even when I’m not playing the game. I never had a guide for GTA Vice City so I went on Amazon and found one in pretty good condition for €10. Great deal if you ask me.

Project Gotham Racing 2 and SSX On Tour (Xbox)

PGR is my favorite racing franchise on the Xbox (Yes, I prefer PGR over Forza) and I’m really sad that they don’t make a new one but I can now at least relive the greatness that is PGR2. SSX On Tour isn’t a great SSX game but it’s still fun and it was cheap so why not?

What’s your take on the remake/remastered culture? Do you like that they remake some of the older gems or do you think that it’s just a quick cash grab? Let me know in the comments!

Weekly pick-ups: Week 107!

This week I got some awesome figurines and I added a bunch of games to my Xbox collection!

Dead Island Definitive Edition: Slaughter Pack (PS4) (not pictured)

As a horror movie/game guy I just couldn’t pass this one up. Great games and some really nice extra’s for a budget price. If you want to see an unboxing for it; https://wp.me/p6lqKe-e0

Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow, Knight of the Temple Infernal Crusade, Obscure, Soldier of Fortune II, Batman Begins, Cold Fear and XIII (Xbox)

All of these games were cheap (around €5 each) and that’s the reason why I got them. I really want to play XIII but I don’t want to open it up (it’s still factory sealed). I might just go out and buy another copy because that’s an amazing game!

Marvel vs Capcom Infinite Collectors Edition

The game isn’t that great (it’s OK but pretty disappointing if you’re a fan of the series) but the collectors edition is something else. You get four amazing figurines; Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Chun-Li and Mega Man and you also get a box (that lights up) with the Infinity stones!

What do you guys think about collecting factory sealed stuff? Stupid (because you can’t play it) or smart (because the value may increase)? Let me know in the comments!
