Nintendo announces the NES Mini !

Nintendo just loves to play with our nostalgic feelings. After Pokémon Go (which is a HUGE success) they announced a mini version of their first popular home console: the Nintendo Entertainment System.

The system will be released with 30 pre installed games such as Super Mario Bros 3 and Metroid. The list looks pretty good and features something for everyone to enjoy (I’ll include the full list below). An advantage that this NES mini has over the original NES is that this has a HDMI output; older consoles sometimes look pretty bad on newer televisions but because this has a HDMI output that won’t be the case.

The NES Mini will be powered via USB but it will only give you the USB cable, not the charging plug (but mostly everyone has one for their phone so that isn’t a big deal). Lastly the console comes with a classic NES controller and the cool thing is that it can also be used on the Wii and WiiU (to play NES games). All those things sound pretty good but a system like this only succeeds if the price is right and that seems to be the case. The NES mini will be sold for 60 Dollars and an additional controller will set you back 10 dollars. A lot of people will be interested in this system for that price and I’ll bet you that they will sell out on the release (the 10th of november). I will definitely buy one but how about you? Are you interested in such a system? Let me know on the comments!

Battlefield 1 gets an exclusive collectors edition!

The release trailer of Battlefield 1 is the most liked trailer of all time and that is a good indication of how excited people are for this game. And like every major game release these days, Battlefield 1 will have a collectors edition. Let’s see what’s inside!

This edition will include:

  • Cloth Propaganda Poster
  • Messenger Pigeon Tube With “DLC” Code Inside
  • Steel Case For Game
  • 14″ Statue Of Cover Character
  • Deck of BF1 Playing Cards

The price for all of this will be around 220 US dollars which I feel is a bit much. The figurine looks good but I don’t feel like it totally justifies the price. The rest of the items are pretty OK (if they are high quality) but I still feel like this is priced just too high. A price around 150 US dollars would have been much better in my opinion. I’m not going to buy this one at its release but when I find one for a decent price (new or used) I might consider buying it.

What do you guys think about this collectors edition? Let me know in the comments!

Battalion 1944: The World War 2 shooter that we all have been waiting for ?

Gamers all over the world have expressed their desire for a new World War 2 shooter. A studio called ‘Bulkhead Interactive’ heard that call and they started a Kickstarter campaign for their new World War 2 game, Battalion 1944.

They asked for £100 000 and they reached that goal within days. They are now sitting around £194 000 with 22 days remaining. I can definitely see why people backed this project. The footage that they have released looks pretty good (Unreal 4 engine) and it seems like a throwback to the old World War 2 shooters like Call of Duty (1 and 2) and Medal of Honor.

Bulkhead Interactive also seemed very keen of keeping this game as realistic as possible. They went to Normandy to take pictures of the environment to replicate that in their game and they also spend a lot of time with the era specific weapons to make them sound as realistic as possible.

Another interesting point that they make is that their game will be based more around skill than others. We have all been there; you find a online shooter that you enjoy but you don’t have a lot of time to play it. And then when you come around to play it again all your opponents have the best weapons and you’re still stuck with the shitty starter weapons. Battalion 1944 won’t do that (according to the developers); all guns will be available at the start and the player needs to learn how to be efficient with them to win in the game.

Overall I’m pretty excited for this game. I’ve been wanting to play a new World War 2 shooter for a while now and Battalion 1944 shows a lot of promise. It’s also nice of them to include the community on the choices they make (they stream their meetings on Twitch). The game will probably be released somewhere in 2017 so Bulkhead Interactive have a lot of time to fine tune everything to give us the best game possible.
